Dear DotAsia Community, Thank you for all those who have provided comments and feedback to the .Asia Community Reserved Names Policy draft. Our appreciation also to all those who have responded favorably in support of the policy initiative. The public comment period for the draft policy is now closed. The DotAsia team will incorporate received suggestions into the policy document for further consideration through the Board Community-Projects Committee, and the Board for adoption. In summary, the .Asia Community Reserved Names Policy provides an extra level of protection against inadvertent lapses of domain name registrations by introducing a process for .Asia domain names used for community purposes in alignment of the DotAsia vision and mission (https://www.dot.asia/dotasia-organisation/about-dotasia/#visionmission) to be placed onto the Community Reserved Names List in accordance with the .Asia Reserved Names Policy (https://www.dot.asia/policies/DotAsia-Reserved-Names--COMPLETE-2007-08-10.p df). We look forward to announcing the implementation of the policy. In short, the .ASIA Community Reserved Names Policy is intended to provide an extra level of protection against inadvertent lapses of domain name registrations for active .Asia domain names supporting community purposes. By placing such domain names onto the Community Reserved Names List, when a registrant forgets to (or due to whatever reason failed to) renew the domain registration, the domain name will not immediately drop back into the available pool and be able to be registered by anyone. Instead, it will be caught as a Reserved Name and not be available for general registration. The registrant may then work with DotAsia to reactivate the domain. We are publishing this DRAFT Community Reserved Names Policy (https://www.dot.asia/policies/DotAsia-CommunityReservedNames-PUBLIC-COMMENT S-DRAFT-20220304.pdf) for your feedback, comments and suggestions. This public comment period is posted on March 8, 2022, and will be open until April 8, 2022. Please send your responses and thoughts via email to comments@dot.asia <mailto:comments@dot.asia> . Regards, Board Secretariat DotAsia Organisation
