Hello all, Thanks Maureen for sharing your availability - and definitely no regrets having you as part of the committee! If the group is agreeable, I think a call would be useful to kickstart the committee and align some expectations. I would be more than keen to hear some learnings this group has over the years of handling complaints and what the on-ground committee members should look out for. We wouldn’t be making any changes to the CoC (Code of Conduct) immediately in this call, I don’t think, but sharing some context and initial thoughts as to why a refreshed of CoC is desirable may be useful as a reference. Dear Cheryl, Maureen and Swaran, I hope this email finds you well :) I am pleased to welcome all of you as part of the APrIGF 2026 Complaint Handling Committee (CHC). We have Maureen (Civil Society, Cook Islands) and Cheryl (Civil Society, Australia), who will be attending APrIGF 2026 remotely and have plenty of experience being part of the CHC in the last few years, and Swaran (Academia, Fiji) who will be joining us onsite in Kathmandu. As part of this year’s CHC, it would be great if we could also review the APrIGF Code of Conduct <https://igf.asia/CodeofConduct> which was last updated in March 2022. Possibly, we could explore revising / including additional information about types of harassment, decide on remedies, conditions for escalation, etc and hear your input on areas that the committee would deem necessary for future implementation (not for this year’s APrIGF). Would this be something the committee would be keen to look into? Perhaps we could convene a meeting next week on either Wednesday 23rd Sept or Thursday 24th Sept at 6:00 UTC? Thank you.
