Totally agree Edmon - the whole new gTLD issue - starting with whether there should be another round, and what the reviews of the whole new gTLD  are saying are really important.  And part of that should be the IDNs - which you are better placed to comment on than I.

It appears that the new gTLD discussion is ongoing at ICANN and that is a topic of interest for APAC.
Perhaps for the upcoming meeting and meetings thereupon, it would be good to focus on each of the Tracks more deeply so that we can engage and get participants up to speed on each track as well as to prepare for input into the actual process.

So starting from Track 1 in the upcoming meeting...
Thoughts/ideas from others?

Dear friends and colleagues,

The next APAC Space web conference will take place on Thurs, 8 September 2016 03:00 (UTC) / 11:00 (SGT), where we propose to continue discussion on “Update on Next Round of New gTLDs”, zooming into one of the Work Tracks. The proposed agenda is appended below. Appreciate any comments and ideas for the proposed discussion topic and agenda, particularly which Work Track you would like to discuss please.

Proposed Agenda:

1.      Introduction to APAC Space – Jia-Rong Low, VP and MD APAC Hub, ICANN (3mins)
2.      Introduction to the issue by ICANN staff – Mary Wong, Senior Policy Director / Steve Chan, Senior Policy Manager, ICANN (15mins)
3.      Community Discussion – moderated by Edmon Chung, CEO DotAsia (35mins)
4.      AOB & Closing (7 mins)

To recap, at the previous APAC Space web conference (https://community.icann.org/display/GSEAPAC/APAC+Space) which took place on 16 June 2016, the community was introduced to the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process (PDP) where sub-teams have been formed to work on 5 work tracks (click on the links to find out more):

·         Work Track 2: Legal/Regulatory

Thank you and look forward to hearing back from you. We’re looking to share the details of the APAC Space web conference with the wider community by next Friday 12 August.

Warm Regards,
