Dear all, Given the extension to the workshop submission deadline to 16 Feb, perhaps we could invite nominations for suitable speakers for the courses below, and have the inputs come in, by end 10 Feb? Self-nomination/volunteers are very welcomed too. Thank you very much. =======Recap of Proposed courses ========================================================================= Day 1 (90 mins) Introduction / General track - Intro to IG / History in IG Proposed speaker(s): TBD / suggestions welcomed - Multistakeholder model/perspective Day 2 (90 mins) Technical track - Critical Internet Resources basics; Domain Names/IP Proposed speaker(s): TBD / suggestions welcomed - Fundamentals of Cyber security; Network security Day 3 (90 mins) Emerging topics track - Internet Users' Right (privacy and access to knowledge) Proposed speaker(s): Xue Hong (tbc) - IG in Digital Economy (IoT, cloud computing, digital printing and the FabLabs, etc) Proposed speaker(s): Izumi Aizu ============================================================================ ========================== Regards, Kelvin On 2/4/16, 5:48 PM, "Kelvin Wong" <kelvin.wong@icann.org> wrote:
Dear Yannis,
Thanks for the comment - well noted. Will see how we can encourage the Fellows to attend the Introductory courses, and not make it too onerous for them.
Dear Paul,
Yes, as APILP Chair Peng Hwa mentioned during yesterday’s MSG call (and for the benefit of those who might not have been present at the call), we will work closely with APSIG, in the event that it features in Taipei. We’ll have some time from now to then, and will be happy to coordinate to avoid confusion - I’m currently playing the role of APILP liaison to APSIG group. Will also appreciate guidance on this from MSG as we go along.
Thanks all.
Regards, Kelvin

Dear All,
For the target participants, some of the APrIGF fellows could be potential speakers which might not necessarily requires introduction sessions as such. Therefore I am unsure whether we should make it compulsory for them.
Thanks.

Dear Kelvin and all,
It is great to see that the APILP organisers are ready to submit proposals for 2016 in Taipei.
Of course, we still don’t know whether the “APSIG” group will accept the offer and opportunity to hold APSIG in Taipei. I have asked for this decision asap, and hopefully we will have the answer before the MSG meeting on Weds this week.
In the event that APSIG comes to Taipei, then I assume there will be a genuine collaboration to create a single “school” stream in APrIGF, which would inncorporate both iniatives.
Please let’s share our thoughts on this, so that we all can develop and agree a clear plan in the near future!
Thanks again,
Paul.

Dear all (APILP mailing list),
Happy 2016!
Some of you might be aware of or have been involved in discussion related to the new APSIG, and might be wondering how this impacts APILP. In discussion with APSIG, I¹m happy to say that we are proposing for APILP to continue with the morning sessions during APrIGF, as we have done previously in APrIGF 2015.
In view of this, I would like to kick start the process of determining the topics and drafting the workshop proposals (sorry that this coordination has taken some time).
To recap, for the last APrIGF, we submitted and held 3 workshop sessions (45 mins each), one for each morning of the main APrIGF conference, targeted mainly at the newcomers and youth participants (See here for the workshop proposals etc:

Proposal for APrIGF 2016
For APrIGF 2016, we are proposing to submit workshop proposals based on the following: * Duration: 3 sessions, 90 mins per session (There were some feedback that 45 mins each in 2015 was too short. I think we can propose 90 mins - this was also our originally proposed duration in 2015) * Audience: Newcomers and interested parties. Explore with organizers in making it a requirement for YIGF participants and APrIGF Fellows to attend this, if possible. * Topics: It will be "same-same but different² having some new/emerging topics but keep to the essence of these being introductory courses. Some of the core members in APILP (as copied) discussed and we¹ve come up with the following suggestions (see bottom of this email). Please let me know if you have any comments or further suggestions.
Given the deadline for APrIGF workshop proposal submission, could I invite comments to come in by 2 Feb please? Thank you.
