Lance Wolak will join our steering committee and is willing to join our advisory if that's okay. His email address is: Lance Wolak <LWolak@pir.org> You can just add him to the list since I'm pretty sure he'll know what's going on. I'll send him a separate note on the two lists if you want him on the ac. He'll be at APRICOT so having him as part of the ac would be a good idea. I had talked to him about the steering committee but not the ac. Wonder if we have any update from the action items:
- inviting PIR -- AFILIAS
Any update?
I have not taken any action with respect to this but I will do so now.
ok
- inviting Steve Crocker
Discussed with Steve briefly in Cartagena, and tried to connect with him via email. Ram/Jim, perhaps you can help get his attention?...
Steve will not be attending. However, we should invite Steve to participate in the steering committee for the future programs.
Got his response as well. He will join steering committee.
- inviting ISC (suzanne for the workshop) -- AFILIAS
Any update?
Was this action mine? In any case I will call and ask now.
ok
Also, should we try to invite others?...
I don't have any immediate people suggestions but I think we should begin to propose specific topics for the agenda. This will help to drive who we might invite.
Yes. If you can put a strawman together that would be great.
Are we settled on the idea of a Summit in the morning and a Workshop in the afternoon? I like it.
Workshop should be Wednesday (Feb 23) afternoon.
So we're looking for Vint to headline the summit. If the audience is expected to be more on the management/executive side then the program should focus on the why and the benefit of DNSSEC.
It should be a mixture of mgt and engineers.
Do we want the workshop to be hands on or just a focus on technical presentations? For presentations we might consider a real-time demonstration of a "hijacking", which can be very compelling. We should then have presentations on lessons learned and questions to consider as part of implementing.
It can be both. APRICOT attracts a lot of hands on engineers.
Yes, I think real-time demo of hijacking would be great. Would Dan be a good person to invite?
Are there other ideas?
Besides scare tactics.. anything towards benefit and opportunities?...

Hi Elvis,
Please help setup a mailing list sc@dnssec.asia with everyone on this email thread for a steering committee list to get the preparations work started.
Hi Everyone,
Had a very good huddle with Ram, Roland and Jim yesterday and started on the plans for the events, kicking off with the Opening day session at APRICOT and a workshop session on Wed.
Just to summarize quickly, we discussed so far:
- inviting PIR -- AFILIAS
- inviting Steve Crocker (is it intended for him to be on the SC?) -- EDMON
- marking Vint's schedule for the opening -- EDMON/PING/CHEHOO
- inviting ISC (suzanne for the workshop) -- AFILIAS

I support Edmon's ideas! And thanks again to Roland for your support!

Hi Roland, This is great! Excited to have Afilias as a Sponsor :-) Ping will work with Heather on the sponsorship arrangements.
Let's start working out a plan for a DNSSEC.Asia summit for the opening day of APRICOT (along with perhaps even a couple of workshops during the week, and a booth at the exhibition area). We will need strong support from Afilias to get this done too, beyond monetary sponsorship support. My initial thought is to develop it into something like www.IPv6World.asia, which is a seminar and workshop series.
I am adding Charles Mok and Che Hoo Cheng to this discussion. Think it might work best if, like IPv6World.Asia, we can get ISOC HK to help push DNSSEC.Asia.
Here are a few thoughts:
1. DNSSEC.Asia Summit -- would like for this to be a high level conference style discussion. Should probably include Vint in the line up of speakers. Jim/Ram, any suggestions on who else? Dan Kaminsky?... (Monday, Feb 21, 9:30AM-12:00Noon)
2. DNSSEC.Asia Workshop -- this should be designed for ISP and hosting provider engineers. Jim/Ram, any suggestion on format?... (Wednesday, Feb 23, 2PM-5PM -- either room for 27 or 50 classroom setting... please also suggest)
3. DNSSEC Showcase at APRICOT Press Conference -- I was wondering if it is possible to do a demonstration of a dns spoofing / man in the middle attack... e.g. to have everyone connect to a particular wifi spot and then show the compromised results... how can we/ is it possible to make it an interesting demonstration...
4. DNSSEC.Asia Website -- we should collect a set of information, materials and tools for different users (registry, registrar, registrant, ISP, hosting providers, corporations, end-users, etc.), should also consider maintaining a directory of TLDs supporting DNSSEC, websites/services supporting DNSSEC
Am hoping we can start from HK and replicate this around Asia. I.e. to develop DNSSEC.Asia seminars/workshops around Asia, partnering with local ISOC chapter or relevant organizations.
Anyway, perhaps lets start with thoughts on 1, 2 and 3 and how we can invite the right speakers
