Dear All, Just want to let you know that planning@apilp.asia has been activated. Let me know if I should go ahead to add Chat or Paul you would talk to her first. Thanks. Glad to see this and to know that the issue of Civil Society presence is agreed. This programme is a great start but before setting anything in stone, I would suggest to bring the right people into this discussion. After all it is not just an issue of civil society “content” but also “participation” in this process. I suggest Chat Garcia, who is already active on the MSG, would be the right person to invite into this group in the short term. The future particuipation in the mailing list can continue to emerge as well of course. Are you all OK to invite Chat at this stage? One other comment: This agenda is very packed and I feel that the allocation of 2 90-minutes slots to the technical community is not quite fair. Perhaps if we spent 60 minutes on IANA transiti9on and then 60 on my presentation, then this would free up time for others. If Hong is happy to be identified as “Academic” then perhaps she should join in with the technical community, with her session scheduled before the afternoon coffee break. Then, we could leave the final session (16.00-17.30) for the Civil Society issues. It would look something like this: 09:00 - 10:30 General: 1. Introduction to Internet Governance & Multistakeholder Model 2. Introduction to APrIGF/MSG (and outcome document?) 10:30 - 11:00 Coffee Break 11:00 - 12:00 Technical: IANA transition 12:00 - 12.30 Technical: Basics of Critical Internet Resources (DNS/IP addresses etc) 12:30 - 14:00 Lunch 14:00 - 15:30 Technical: Fundamentals of Cyber Security / Network Security 14.30 - 15.30 Academic: Internet User's Rights (privacy and access to knowledge) 15:30 - 16:00 Coffee Break 16:00 - 17:30 Civil Society: 1. Exploring publicness' in the Right to Be Forgotten Rulings 2. Other topics 17:30 - 18:30 General: Emerging issues Any thoughts? Paul. On 18 Apr 2016, at 17:50, Kelvin Wong wrote:
Hi Paul,
Thanks for starting this conversation. APILP chair is currently Peng Hwa, and we¹d be happy to continue to support.
Peng Hwa and I discussed about the program following the MSG meeting last week and we¹ve come up with the attached program - glad that we¹ve reached a similar conclusion that we can beef up the civil society part! The ones in red are proposed and new, and I hope answers the question on the ³civil society² deficiency well. For this, we took the liberty of looking at some of the workshops that are higher ranking but fell out of the top 30, and aligns well with what we think is useful as a segment in APILP. The program is open to discussion of course, and we can float this to planning@apilp.asia (and thereafter to MSG?).
Looking at the program, since this has been decided to be a full day program on Day 0, I¹m wondering if coffee (and/or lunch) will also be provided for the participants/lecturers, as per the main conference days?
Happy to hear views. Thanks.
Regards, Kelvin

Hi all,
Now that we have the decision to hold APILP on Day 0, we need to finalise that schedule and announce it so that we can improve participation. We also need to finalise the programme.
I¹d like to suggest an APILP organisers¹ mailing list so that we have easier and more regular contact; it should also allow others to join. Yannis, can Dotasia set that up? something like planning@apilp.asia
On the quesiton of programme, I feel we have a deficiency with a lack of ³civil society² representation and content; so I want to propose to involve additional organisers who can contribute a unit about social issues such as freedom of expression, access, gender etc. I think this is really very necessary, and I hope we can agree to accomodate that on Day 0 as well.
For clarity, can we confirm someone to formally chair this group? Peng Hwa, is that you? Or Kelvin?
Thanks all,
Paul.
